Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) or CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is a condition where individuals experience symptoms which can include the following; persistent and debilitating fatigue, exhaustion related to mild or moderate activity, weakness and muscle pains, flu like symptoms, poor concentration and sleep disturbance. Headaches, dizziness and painful glands may occur as well as palpitations, sweating and nausea.

The symptoms of CFS can fluctuate and may follow or be worsened by mild viral illnesses. The precise cause and pathology of the illness remains unclear, however it is recognised as a real, long term illness, perhaps involving the complex interaction between neurological and immune systems.
